California’s WARN Act says you must give your employees ample notice before you hand them their walking papers. So, who’s up next? We went through the 2009 WARN Notices and here’s what we found (Arranged by Company, Layoff Number, Date)…

*Alza Corporation, 29, 3/20/09

*Elan Pharmaceuticals, 53, 2/23/09

*FACET Biotech, 66, 3/9/09

*Lifescan (makes glucose sensors), 96, 3/13/09

*Life Technologies, 40, 7/30/09

*Metabasis Therapeutics, 38, 3/23/09

*Valeant Pharmaceuticals (probably as a result of the Dow acquisition), 55, 1/31/09-9/30/09 (basically the last day of every month someone is out the door)

*XOMA, 144, 3/16/09

Painful…
