It’s been a while since we had a venture/start-up update. So much going on in the public capital markets – drama!!! Anyway, we have a few new start-up profiles coming up soon, but in the meantime here’s some updates on two companies we profiled a while back…
HemaQuest Pharmaceuticals, which we wrote about back in January, has initiated two clinical trials with its butyrate derivative, HQK-1001. The trials will assess the compound’s efficacy in sickle cell disease and beta thalassemia and will measure fetal globin as the primary outcome, among other outcome measures. [PitchEngine]
Cornerstone Pharmaceuticals, which we profiled back in December, said today that it has started a phase 1/2 clinical trial of CPI-613, a pyruvate dehydrogenase inhibitor and PDK stimulator. The trial will be in patients with pancreatic cancer and will evaluate the compound’s efficacy in combination with gemcitabine. This is Cornerstone’s second trial with CPI-613, the first of which was a Phase 1 open label study in solid tumors that begun in September, 2008. Data from that trial was not released. [PRWeb]
