UPDATE: FDA Panel Urges Vicodin, Similar Drugs, Pulled from Market

An FDA Panel is now saying that prescription drugs like Vicodin and Percocet, which combine narcotic with acetaminophen, should be eliminated because of their role in deadly overdoses.
The panel voted 20-17 to pull the drugs off the market.
Experts on the panel also cited that 60% of acetaminophen-related deaths are related to prescription products.

An FDA Panel said today that painkiller Tylenol should have a lower maximum daily dose to prevent liver injury.
Outside advisers to the FDA backed the reduction of the 4 g maximum daily dose for Tylenol and other over-the-counter products containing acetaminophen.

If high doses of acetaminophen cause liver damage, it only makes sense to reduce the dosage. I would think doctors could easily prescribe the other drugs contained in Vicodin and Percocet separately from acetaminophen.
Avoid painkillers.it may be risk overdosing
