Bristol-Myers
Squibb is paying Zymogenetics $85M UF in cash, part of a $1.12B deal
for the rights to develop its PEG-Interferon lambda (in Phase 1) for
treating hepatitis C. ZymoGenetics will get $430M if it reaches
certain development milestones and approval of PEG-Interferon lambda ,
$287M for development and regulatory approvals of drugs to treat other
conditions (usually out in there to cover asses and sweeten the deal),
and $285M for meeting certain sales goals. Sweet. ZymoGenetics
already sells Recothrom, a genetically engineered topical thrombin to
stop bleeding. Yahoo!
Finance
Singulex closed a $19M financing
round, led by JAFCO Co., Ltd. and supported by existing investors:
OrbiMed Advisors and Fisk Ventures. The $19M will be used for the
commercialization of Singulex’s technologies in the
diagnostics/biomarker market. Singulex uses something called “Erenna”
technology and immunoassays to help them better understand the effects
of compounds early in development. The technology also allows for the
detection and measurement of minute protein biomarker changes at very
low levels, facilitating development of personalized medicines. We’ll
be covering Singulex in greater detail in an upcoming company profile.
FierceBiotech
BiPar Sciences
announced a $20M raise from existing equity investors Domain
Associates, Canaan Partners, Vulcan Capital, PolyTechnos
Venture-Partners, Asset Management Company and Quantum Technology
Partners, along with venture-debt lender Lighthouse Capital Partners.
BiPar is trying to advance BSI-201, their PARP inhibitor for
metastatic triple negative breast cancer (TNBC), to Phase 3
registration studies. BiPar is also another company we’ll be covering
soon. MSNBC
And that’s that…we’re exhausted…good night!
