Saturday Night Quickie: Mad Money, Zingo and the FDAHey guys and girls, it’s freakin Saturday! Hope everyone is heading out for a nice night on the town because we’re sure not! :( We’re here working away on next week’s profiles and news. Yeah, this is our life. Anywho, here’s a few tidbits to last you til’ Monday…

VCs

The bad thing about VC investing is that you end up with a lot of shitty companies. Yeah, you get a few jewels, but most end up going to the Graveyard. A bunch of VCs (Sofinnova Venture Partners, Alta Partners, CMEA Ventures and InterWest Partners) who are on the board of Anesiva bought $7M worth of shares to keep the company going.

Anesiva is struggling and needs cash to maintain operations, pay debts (those damn Zingo manufacturers f-ed up!), etc. The company says it’s looking for a long-term solution to its financial needs or it will sell or liquidate. Laughable. Welcome to the party, pal.

Anesiva’s lead product, Zingo (delivers a burst of lidocaine into the skin before minor invasive procedures) has had a wealth of manufacturing problems since its 2007 approval. The company finally pulled it from the market in November 2008. Read more at the San Francisco Business Times.

Cramer

In other news, Cramer made some recent comments on the Abbott market hunt. Cramer thinks that Abbott has an eye for the following companies:

*Celera – maker of KIF6, a test for genetic risk of cardiovascular disease with 10% market share.

*Martek Biosciences

*Sequenom – buy, buy, buy…

FDA

Finally, ETF Innovators has updated their 2009 FDA decision and clinical result calendar. Mike Havrilla: you rock!

Happy Saturday everyone!

you don’t buy it sweetheart. The hospital buys it and keeps it in stock for docs to prescribe and nurses to administer it.
