…because the FDA just finalized guidelines that will now allow them to tell doctors about unapproved uses of their drugs (i.e. basically a backdoor for off-label promotion). By distributing copies of medical journal articles that describe the unapproved uses, pharmas can now get to push those drugs even further and not get in trouble for it.

Pharmas rejoice! More dinero! Off-label pushing now legal!!!

Everyone is saying that Repubs are partying in the streets and that Dems and drug-industry critics (like this guy) when it was proposed last year, but we know that it’s all about the guys with money (i.e. the shareholders) and how they can get their drugs into more patients. OK OK, it’s also about tougher regulation deterring new drugs from being developed, and being able to help more patients. We gotta be objective here. We’re on both sides actually.
