Pfizer to (Eventually) Axe ALL Reps

The Pfizer reps who are still on board and did not get canned
should get ready. Manhattan Research President Mark Bard recently
told PharmExec that Pfizer will eventually cut all of its reps, moving
exclusively to an all contract sales force. Bard specifically said: “It goes without saying that efficiencies in the cost base within the
sales organization were a key driver in this deal. Pfizer is going to
cut as many as it can – and eventually go to a contract sales force
that it can hire and fire at will.”
I doubt this is true – Kindler has said nothing of the sort and even if this is the case, it will be a while before Pfizer can implement such a huge effort. There are in fact thousands of reps that they would have to displace and then contract, train, etc. Are there even that many contract reps out there?
Nonetheless, sounds painful. Get those resumes out.

I cant believe this to be true. If so, that would be absolute devastation.
No training expense….lay off all the employee sales reps, then rehire as contractors from that ever-growing pool of experienced pharma reps who don’t have jobs
The “anon” comment is both racialy and sexually offensive, and does not belong in a discussion that is supposedly professional.
