Wow! Jeff Kindler and Pfizer (PFE) are nice. PFE announced today that they will provide about 70 different prescription drugs free of charge to anyone who has lost their job or health insurance. What’s great is that the drugs included on the list are some blockbusters like Viagra, Neurontin, Zoloft, Lipitor and even Chantix. Yay!!!

That’s really quite a bold offering and they definitely trumped GSK with their retracted offer of 50% off.

Ok, what’s the catch with the free pills?

1. Must have been laid off in 2009

2. Must have been on the drug for three months or more

3. Pfizer needs a pink slip as proof

4. Free meds for one year only

OK, so the catches aren’t too bad. PFE’s head of pharmaceuticals ex-US and Europe Jorge Puente said this:

“Everybody knows now a neighbor, a relative who has lost their job and is losing their insurance. People are definitely hurting out there. Our aim is to help people bridge this point.”
