The biggest news of the day was Genzyme and Isis’ Mipomersen, an antisense therapeutic that inhibits ApoB lipoprotein in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. The drug showed a 25% reduction in LDL vs. 3% in patients on placebo. Shares of Isis dropped about 10% on concerns of liver toxicity, delayed registration and potential limited use in a chronic setting in patients with less severe disease. [The Motley Fool]
