FDA medical reviewers gave a thumbs down to Debiopharm’s and Salix Pharmaceutical’s (SXLP) vapreotide, an octreotide analog for treating esophageal bleeding. Reviewers harshly questioned the drug’s safety and efficacy. The FDA Gastrointestinal Advisory Committee will review the drug on Tuesday. Shares of SXLP dropped on the news. [Reuters]
