More Sanofi...R&D Reorganization ComingSanofi CEO Chris Viehbacher (CV) is now saying that he is not completely excluding a “mega deal” over $15 billion.

Curveballs!

Just last week, Viebacher said that a U.S. takeover wasn’t “necessarily in the cards” and continued to deny (to Bloomberg) mega-acquisition rumors from prior weeks, saying the denial “is absolutely rock solid.”

This week, CV is also coming clean on some upcoming “reorganizations:”

“We are clearly down the path to give a new dynamics to our research and development organisations. We have a number of things to address in terms of how we get our people to work together, how we can provide more latitude for creativity, how we can develop them scientifically and how we can encourage external collaboration, because there is a world of science out there. I think you will see a fair amount of communication over the course of July, and we will follow up with detail in the third to fourth quarter.”

In fact, CV sent a a letter to employees back in December when he joined Sanofi, expressing that rethinking the organization and the management of the company’s R&D teams was one of his priorities.

According to Bloomberg:

Management is scheduled meet with labor unions on June 30 and July 1 to discuss the reorganization, which may also extend to other businesses, Thierry Bodin, a representative of the CGT union at Sanofi, said in a phone interview. Sanofi probably won’t say how many jobs it plans to cut on these occasions.

We say cuts are definitely coming…btw, check out our Sanofi buyout rumor poll right here!
