Calistoga Pharmaceuticals will live to see another year. The developer of PI3K delta isoform inhibitors, which might be more specific for liquid tumors than its non-selective counterparts, has received $30M in financing from its VC parents to keep it going. VC backers include Frazier Healthcare Ventures, Alta Partners, Three Arch Partners, and Amgen Ventures. [Xconomy]
NABsys Inc. has closed a $4M equity round that will be used to advance the company’s solid-state DNA sequencing platform. NABsys combines physics, biology and computer science to create an electronic, solid-state DNA sequencing platform. The platform eliminates dependency on a polymerase enzyme (eg PCR) and uses electronic detection of DNA and algorithms for DNA rebuilding. The financing came from Point Judith Capital, Slater Technology Fund and other undisclosed investors. [Mass High Tech]
Kamada announced yesterday that, pursuant to an agreement dated February 23, 2009, it completed a private allocation of 2,621,723 shares of its common stock to a select group of investors, including Ralf Hahn, Chairman of the Board and one of the controlling shareholders, and UDT Med Holdings LLC, New York. Synageva BioPharma said it has brought in an additional $3M from two new investors, Yasuda Enterprise Development Co. and Hunt BioVentures, bringing its total Series A to $33M. Synageva previously announced a $30M commitment in April to fund its pipeline of novel proteins, antibodies and follow-on biologics. [BusinessWire]
Finally, Sanovia Corp. has raised $8M in a Series C round led by Chrysalis Ventures, HLM Venture Partners and Claritas Capital. The funding brings Sanovia’s total financing history to $16M. Sanovia provides pharmaceutical management products and services to health plans, such as automated prior authorization management, fraud and abuse detection and medication management solutions.
