Genzyme Waited 3 Days??!! WTF??!!
March 3, 2009 at 11:08 am EST | Tags: FDA, Filings & Approvals, ManufacturingForbes is reporting that Genzyme (GENZ) waited three days to report the FDA notice to investors. WTF?? Shady! The company received two letters from the FDA on Friday afternoon. One said that the agency would not approve Lumizyme to treat Pompe disease, before a deadline of Feb. 28, and the he other said that the agency still had significant problems with the manufacturing plant where Lumizyme is made.
The company sat on this all Friday night, all day Saturday, Sunday and all Monday (a trading day). OMG! Check the trades! Doesn’t look good when you sit on this for four days almost – it makes it look like there could be insider trading, especially since GENZ is down almost 10% today.
Here’s what Genzyme spokeswoman Lori Gorski said:
“We needed the opportunity to talk through the feedback with the FDA, and put together our communication.”
For the record, here’s the awesome new plant that is center of all the controversy:

Genzyme pumped in $150M back in 2007 to expand the Allston, MA based facility specifically to make Lumizyme.
Drama…
