A few financings and updates today…
Financings
Metabolic Solutions has raised $10.6M from Hopen Therapeutics, Southwest Michigan First Life Science and the NIH. The company will use the money to finish a Phase 2 trial for MSDC-0160, a PPARγ-sparing thioglitazone (Mitoglitazoneā¢) for type 2 diabetes, as well as to complete pre-IND studies of a next-generation version of ‘0160. Artisan Pharma has raised $9.4M of an $11.8M round of debt financing. Artisan’s lead drug is recombinant thrombomodulin, an anticlotting drug licensed from Asahi Kasei Pharma. Investors were not disclosed. [Xconomy]
Venture Update
- Finally, Addrenex Pharmaceuticals, which we’ve profiled and written about, has licensed a drug for narcolepsy from SK Life Sciences, a division of the South Korean company SK Holdings Co. The drug, called ADX-N05 has shown “potential” in treating excessive daytime sleepiness and cataplexy, an abrupt and temporary episode of weakness that can result in collapse. [BizJournals]
