• Synergy Pharmaceuticals, Inc says it’s completed the final tranche of a private placement in which it raised gross proceeds of an aggregate $7,092,500 million through the sale of 10,132,143 shares of common stock at a price of $0.70 per share. The funds will be used towards a Phase 2a chronic constipation trial of SP-304, a synthetic analog of uroguanylin that regulates ion and fluid transport in the GI tract. • Novast Pharmaceuticals Ltd., a Chinese generic pharmaceutical maker, has raised $25 million in Series C funding, according to VentureWire. • International Stem Cell Corporation (OTCBB:ISCO), has entered into a definitive agreement for a $5 million investment commitment with a biotechnology-focused fund that has offices in New York and California.
