Chantix (varenicline) has been the subject of a number of lawsuits and safety issues regarding depression and suicidal thoughts.

Right now there’s even an ongoing case in Pennsylvania where a man is alleging that Chantix side effects caused a behavior change which made him “fly into a rage and almost destroy his home with a lawn tractor!”

Yikes!!!

Here’s the CNBC announcement.

Chantix safety problems first came to the spotlight in late 2007 when the death of musician Carter Albrecht was linked to hallucinations and sudden aggressive behavior caused by the drug. Albrecht was on Chantix for about one week and was shot and killed by a neighbor after he was banging at his back door in the middle of the night, yelling and ranting.
