Xconomy is reporting that Endo Pharmaceuticals is axing 60 employees from Indevus Pharmaceuticals.

The news comes three months after Endo (ENDP) completed its acquisition of Indevus (previously IDEV) in March 2009.

In an email to Xconomy, ENDP spokesperson Kevin Wiggins said that of the 240 IDEV employees, 60 will get pink slips and most will come from finance, corporate affairs or other positions that “overlap with the responsibilities of Endo’s staff in place before the buyout.”

Yikes.

ENDP is also in the process of relocating all R&D programs from IDEV’s headquarters in Lexington, MA to ENDP’s headquarters in Chadds Ford, PA. ENDP did not disclose how many of the axes will affect employees in MA or how many have already been shown the door, but did say that all the sales and manufacturing employees from IDEV will stay as well as some of the commercial and research positions.

The move comes about two months after our tipster wrote that 100 employees had been let go in early April with the majority coming from the ENDP side. Also, in early May, ENDP ammended its marketing agreement with Ventiv Commercial Services, which provides contract sales reps, and reduced its sales force from 275 to 80, effective June 1, 2009.

The bloodbath rages on…
