Cell Therapeutics: The MJ of BiotechIs it just me or is there an uncanny resemblance between recently deceased pop king Michael Jackson and microcap underdog Cell Therapeutics (CTIC)? Here’s what we found…

Controversial History

  • CTIC has been riddled in controversy for years. As Xconomy said, there was the corporate jet issues, Bianco using CTIC funds, a failed boardroom coup against Bianco, off-label marketing of Trisenox, the list goes on.

  • MJ: where do we start? Plastic surgeries, child molestation, weird clothes, sleeping in an oxygen tank, etc etc etc…

Debt debt debt!!!

  • CTIC: $120M in debt and doing everything they can to reduce it, recently got rid of half

  • MJ: $500M in debt and was doing 50 concerts in the UK to get rid of some of it.

Cash

  • CTIC: running out

  • MJ: running out

Heart Issues

  • CTIC: Does Pixantrone have cardiac issues?

  • MJ: died of cardiac arrest.

Past Superstardom

  • CTIC: Trisenox deal, Opaxio past hype, ex-biotech superstar.

  • MJ: The King of Pop.

Kinda the Underdog

  • Bashers hate Pixantrone and love to talk s#!@ about CTIC. Longs are die hard!

  • MJ: Bashers hated this guy, but fans would die for him.

Upcoming Milestones

  • CTIC: Pixantrone FDA action (?) and maybe a Novartis deal?

  • MJ: Big comeback in July at the UK’s O2 arena.

In the Media over anything

  • CTIC makes a noise: Adam Feuerstein, Xconomy and IguanaBio are there!

  • MJ: Goes outside, TMZ is there!

On the brink

  • CTIC: balance act as cash dwindles and the Pixantrone dice are rolled.

  • MJ: was a balance act with painkillers, debt, media/tabloids, legal problems, etc.

Death

  • MJ: DEAD!

  • CTIC: Still alive!!!!

Hmmmm…what do you guys think?

I think this was done with poor taste.

  3. mike says:

That was just too pathetic. You’ve lost me as a regular reader. I may not have been a MJ fan, in fact I can’t stand his music and have had the tv off for the last day because I’m sick of hearing about him. Ed McMahon and Farrah died too ya know but I digress. Very poor taste and the fact that this website let it be posted says a lot for your immaturity.

    Goodbye for good!

Oh please!! There was nothing wrong with this post. You people are too sensitive and need to get a life.

  5. I says:

    Hi Mike,

    Beat it!

    Jacko

  6. jmars says:

This was so disrespectful to the family of MJ. If you want to bash a stock go right ahead but have some taste. I too will no longer be reading any of your articles. Smells a little like the Street. Shame on you!

  7. Anna says:

Oh yeah, iguanabio should be a little more respectful to the Jacksons. Afterall, child beaters and child molesters deserve the utmost respect. When I think of respectable familes, the first family i think of is the Jacksons.

  8. MJ says:

    funnnyyyy!!! lmao!!!

I have a great sense of humor and I don’ t think this is funny at all. Cancer is not a joke, death is not a game–this web site is just bias.

    God Bless CTIC.

  10. Pete says:

This website is definetly bias.. I used to look favorably upon this website for information but now I see for what it really is. Any comparison between Michael Jackson and drug company just isn’t funny. Looks like we got another Adam F here as well guys.

  11. earl says:

If the analogy holds then CTIC still has to have the highest selling drug in history (pixantrone/Piuvri).
