  • ZymoGenetics (ZGEN) announced positive results from a Phase 2 trial in patients receiving 2nd or 3rd line therapy for advanced renal cell carcinoma with the combination of recombinant IL-21 and Nexavar® (sorafenib). The combo showed an overall response rate (assessed by independent review) of 21% (CR+PR), a disease control rate of 82% (CR+PR+SD), and progression-free survival (PFS) of 5.7 months.   • Pfizer (PFE) and Celldex Therapeutics (AVAN) presented updated data on CDX-110 (PF-04948568), an immunotherapeutic vaccine that targets the epidermal growth factor receptor variant III (EGFRvIII) which is currently in a phase 2 brain cancer trial. [Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology News]

  • Calistoga Pharmaceuticals’ CAL-101 showed a partial clinical response in 6 out of 12 patients with relapsed or refractory chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) or B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). [BusinessWire]

  • ZIOPHARM Oncology (ZIOP) presented positive data from both a Phase Ib clinical trial and preclinical dosing studies of indibulin (ZybulinTM or ZIO-301), the company’s tubulin binding agent. [Yahoo!Finance]

  • Genentech presented data on T-DM1, a Herceptin follow up using Immunogen’s (IMGN) DM1 cancer-cell killing agent. The data showed that 25% of patients had a confirmed objective response with 35% of patients demonstrating clinical benefit defined by either a confirmed objective response or stable disease lasting for at least 6 months.
