Allergan Axes 360 from Manufacturing Plant, Northfield Does Same

- Allergan has finally shut the doors at its Irish manufacturing facility. The axe actually swung back in January 2008 when Allergan switched production to Costa Rica. The move came with 360 employees losing their jobs. The last of them has now finally left. Allergan still employs employs 750 people in Westport where it manufactures products for its ophthalmic and neurological line. [PharmaFocus]
- One week after getting a complete response from the FDA for PolyHeme, its investigational hemoglobin substitute for blood transfusions and emergencies, Northfield Laboratories announced it has terminated the employment of substantially all of its operational and staff employees at its manufacturing facility in Mount Prospect, Illinois and headquarters in Evanston, Illinois.
